Pittsford Jazz Festival
FoSPA is a proud sponsor of the annual Pittsford Jazz Festival.
This year's festival, on Friday, May 18, 2012, will feature world-famous trumpeter Allen Vizzutti. Mr. Vizzutti will conduct master classes for the jazz mucisians at Mendon and Sutherland high schools. He will also provide workshops for students at our Pittsford middle schools. In the evening, he will perform with every jazz group in the school district, individaully and as one big happy group.
As one of the most requested Artist in Residence clinicians, Chris Vadala travels worldwide, performing with and conducting student and professional jazz ensembles, symphonic bands, and orchestras. On Friday, May 20, 2011, Mr. Vadala performed together with the jazz ensembles from all Pittsford middle and high schools.
On Thursday, May 19, Chris conducted seminars and workshops for jazz ensemble members from throughout Pittsford. On Friday evening he performed on the Sutherland stage. Students from Barker Road and Calkins Road schools joined high school students from Sutherland and Mendon in a concert to remember. It was great!
On Friday, May 21, 2010, the local professional group, Mambo Kings, performed together with the the jazz ensembles from all Pittsford middle and high schools.
During the day, the guest artists conducted workshops for the kids. In the evening the band performed at Pittsford Sutherland with musicians from Barker Road, Calkins Road, Sutherland and Mendon in a celebration of jazz music.
